Size 28XL vs L Hawaiian Shirts

Size 28XL vs Size L Hawaiian shirt and buttons
Ever wonder what the largest size shirt is that we offer? The most popular size Hawaiian shirt in our store is a size L followed closely by size XL. Sometimes customers make special requests for really big shirts to be put on display in their store or perhaps even at a trade show or conference. Or maybe someone just wants one for novelty purposes. For people like that, we offer a gigantic but still manageable size 28XL shirt. The regular shirts and the giant shirts have some key similarities and differences. Here's how the compare to each other.

Here's how the shirts are different.
  1. The 28XL shirt requires 9 yards of fabric to make versus just 2 yards for the regular shirt.
  2. The 28XL shirt buttons are large than a quarter while the regular buttons are about the size of a fingernail.
  3. The 28XL shirt costs over $250 while a regular shirt costs $40-60.
  4. The 28XL shirt is cut by hand using scissors while the regular shirts are cut with an electric blade.
Here's how the shirts are the same.
  1. Both come with matching pockets.
  2. Both come with coconut buttons.
  3. Both are made in Hawaii.
  4. Both come from the same size rolls of fabric.

Just out of curiosity, we wondered how big someone would have to be to actually wear a size 28XL shirt. As you can see from the picture above, the shirt itself is as tall as a person who would normally wear a size L. We estimate that such a person would be around 12 feet tall and weigh at least 1,400 lbs. And if you're still reading this, you might also be interested to know that a giant ape (Gigantopithecus) lived until a relatively recent 100,000 years ago who could probably have worn this shirt. Now THAT would have been some sight to see!
